The mission of Southeastern Utah Association of Local Governments and Economic Development District is to plan and prepare with federal, state and local governments to strengthen the role of southeastern Utah local officials in the execution of state and federal programs at the regional level to implement economic development, strategize and educate low-income individuals and seniors, stabilize housing and educate individuals for economic stability.
Silicon Slopes and community leaders in Carbon and Emery counties seek to capitalize on and support Utah’s rapidly growing tech industry. Together, we will invest in new opportunities for the people of Carbon and Emery counties and Utah tech companies. Inspired by the efforts of the Utah Coal Country Strike Team and driven by Silicon Slopes’ mission to empower Utah’s startup and tech community to learn, connect, and serve, we create the Silicon Slopes East Chapter.
It is the mission of the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce to enhance the retail, commercial, industrial and civic interests in Carbon County.
The Utah Association of Counties (UAC) is a voluntary, statewide organization whose members are the 29 counties of Utah. The counties, through their elected officials, direct UAC activities in providing services to county officials.
UAC was formed in 1924 to help counties provide effective county government to the people of Utah. The private, non-profit organization offers a broad range of management, training, and intergovernmental relations services to counties, including commissioners and other elected officials (affiliates).
The Office of Rural Development (ORD) works with businesses in Utah’s rural counties, providing resources and programs to sustain business and improve employment opportunities. The office collaborates with local governments and other development partners to support rural economic growth.
Serving Carbon and Emery Counties
In partnership with Utah State University – Eastern Campus, the Price Small Business Development Center (SBDC) serves the Carbon and Emery Counties. The center offers a broad range of resources to assist small business owners in entrepreneurial education, advocacy and business development.

Wellington City was incorporated on March 21, 1907 as a town, and was designated as a city in 1948. Today Wellington City is home to approximately 1600 residents. As one of the numerous communities located along Highway 6, Wellington City serves as a gateway to adventure. Numerous travelers stop at our local gas stations and restaurants for fuel and snacks before heading to Nine-Mile Canyon, Moab, Goblin Valley, Salt Lake, or beyond.
East Carbon is a city in Carbon County, Utah, United States. The population was 1,301 at the 2010 census. East Carbon was incorporated on July 23, 1973, from the merger of the two struggling mining towns of Dragerton and Columbia. On January 1, 2014, the city merged with the neighboring city of Sunnyside.
